The Challenges
The primary focus of the Marine Robotics Team is to design, build, and program a boat capable of competing in the RoboBoat competition in Daytona Beach, Florida. This competition consist of the seven challenges detailed below.

Mandatory Navigation Channel Task
The Mandatory Navigation Channel task is designed to demonstrate basic autonomous control and sensing capabilities.

Obstacle Field Task
The purpose of the Obstacle Field task is to demonstrate complex path planning.

Acoustic Docking task
Successful completion of the Acoustic Docking task will demonstrate the ability to detect an underwater acoustic signal, localize to the source, and maneuver into and out of a defined area.

Object Delivery Task
Successful completion of the Object Delivery task requires delivery of up to four (4) objects to a target area. This task may be accomplished by the ASV or a combination of ASV and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV).

Speed Gate Task
Successful completion of the Speed Gate task demonstrates the ASV’s hull form efficiency coupled with its propulsion system, and the resulting maneuverability.

Return to Dock
The purpose of the Return to Dock task is to demonstrate the ability to navigate back to the launch point while avoiding interaction with any obstacles.

Obstacle Channel Task
Successful completion of the Obstacle Channel task demonstrates the ability to sense and maneuver through a complex path.
